Mopeds possibly for sale.

March 16th, 2009

I have a puch and a General step-through that I am willing to sell!  Will the child at home, I am becoming more and more limited with what I can do with my  mopeds.   I believe I will be selling my 1977 Puch Newport, missing a pedal, and has a 65cc kit and biTurbo.  I believe it is having a condensor problem.  The General is complete, needs new brake cables and tubes. Will start but not stay running.

I can part with them for $150 for the General and $400 for the Puch (The kit and pipe themselves are over $100)

Let me know if interested..

Sneak Peek at the Cali Garelli Build!

March 14th, 2009

Here is a pic of the dope ‘83 Garelli the kids at  1977  Mopeds are building for me for Flock Yeah II… it’s still in the works but will be ready for me early so I can blast LA, the coastal roads and take camping trips to my sis’s cabin at Lake Arrowhead  for a couple weeks before the rally!

All powder coated in a dreamy West coast purple…  CDI,  cut and welded Techno Boss pipe, 15mm SHA carb, Cast Iron NOI 70cc Polini kit… new everything… and it’s a litter mate of Newport’s Pink Maxi!

HUGE Props to Patrick, Dan, Lee, Elliot and Graham at 1977 for makin it happen for me… You guys ROCK!

great low end and mid range. great for city cruising for sure, but i think with a higher power band pipe and some porting, this kit could hit high 50s. kind of winding out too early for my tastes, ill be testing some taller gearing once i get my hands back on the bike. also in the market for larger pipe, carb, kit?/? probably just some porting.  got my eye on some stuff via treats. hopefully ill be bringing the bike from my parents house in mass to my house in vermont this friday.

1962 Montgomery Ward Riverside Mo-Ped

March 10th, 2009

Here’s a bike I’ve been working on for some time.  It’s an early 60’s Motobecane Mobylette, rebadged by Montgomery Ward.  So far I’ve ported the engine, decked and added a higher compression av89 head, installed white wall tires (ordered from France), upgraded the carb to a Dellorto 15/15 SHA, replaced the petcock with a vintage repro, and added the incredible vintage seat, which I got from an early 60’s Mobymatic av89.

Look for this bike on the road this summer and during weekly kHz rides.
