So went and got one of those chinese knock-off dellorto 19mm phbgs…
Overall, seems like a great replica, float was level, choke seemed smooth, blah blah blah. lined it up next to brendans real phbg and it was no comparison, the fake felt and looked super cheap next to the real thing. but hey, 80 dollars less? im not complaining.
for the intake i used a maxi header i scored from phile. (thanks man)
had to clean up the inside a bit, and enlarge the mount holes to fit on the jug. also rounded off the edges.
ran over to autozone for some radiator hose. all they had was 3/4″ (19.1mm) I.D. bummer. shaved out the inside a little, didnt fit. josh recommended throw the tubing in the shop toaster, voila! like a glove. lubed up the intake side, and intake, slipped right on.
got home, threw on some hose clamps i had lying around for extra security. decided to leave it til at least monday, then got antsy and went and mounted it to the bike. everything fit awesome! that is, except for the fuel line, which was shrunk anyway and hard as a rock. so looks like i wont be tuning this bad larry til at least monday. hopefully be able to get it dialed in for the wednesday ride, so i can beat jaym up all those hills he loves. thanks for reading.
